SEG Graphics: Seamless Fabric Presentation With Precision-Fit Frames
Seamless Fabric Graphics
With Precision-Fit Frames
SEG (Silicone Edge Graphic) systems combine a fabric graphic with a sewn silicone gasket that inserts into an aluminum extrusion frame. The result is a taut, seamless, wrinkle-free presentation with no visible hardware — used for trade show backwalls, retail displays, and interior brand environments.
How Silicone Edge Graphics Work
A thin silicone gasket is stitched to the perimeter of a fabric graphic. That edge is pressed into the receiving groove of a compatible aluminum extrusion. Correct dimensions and sewing allowance provide the tension needed for an even face. The fabric is usually removable for updates without disposing of the entire structure when the frame remains serviceable.
The Exhibitors' Handbook SEG light-box reference explains the use of gasketed fabric with LED-illuminated frames. Different frame profiles, corner details and illumination systems are not universally compatible. A generic panel printed at the same width is not necessarily a correct replacement graphic.
SEG Versus Pillowcase Tension Fabric
Both are fabric-display methods, but their construction differs. An SEG display uses an edge gasket fitted into a frame track. A pillowcase tension-fabric graphic, used by many tubular Formulate displays, stretches or zips around a frame. Replacement art templates, assembly methods, finishes and maintenance routines differ. Confirm the product family before ordering a graphic-only reprint.
Best Applications
Retail Displays
Swap seasonal campaigns while keeping the frame.
Trade Show Walls
Produce large, clean graphic surfaces for product storytelling.
Light Boxes
Use approved light-diffusing fabric and properly designed illumination for a vivid presentation.
Corporate Interiors
Install branded feature walls or temporary environmental graphics.
Wayfinding Zones
Combine high-impact fabric graphics with other signs for a coherent event experience.
For a repeating sales campaign, a durable frame and replaceable face can support a practical lifecycle strategy. The frame must survive transport and remain compatible with future print production for that benefit to materialize.
Technical Specifications to Confirm
Provide the frame manufacturer/model, visible opening dimensions, profile type, exact cut and sewing template, corners, fabric class, backlit or frontlit requirement, artwork bleed, expected lighting, shipping method and installation plan. If illuminated, confirm display rating, power supply, electrical access, serviceability and the approved printed fabric. Print appearance can change noticeably when a light box is turned on; review proofs with the end use in mind.
Flame performance, booth requirements, cleaning instructions and replacement schedules depend on the show and product. Never treat any printed textile as automatically suitable for an occupied public venue.
The ROI of Replaceable Graphics
SEG can support lower campaign-change effort when the existing frame can be reused and only the printed fabric is replaced. Compare complete frame purchase, initial graphics, changeout labor, storage, packing, freight and future reprints against rigid or one-time display alternatives. The stronger the repeat campaign schedule, the more valuable a dependable replacement workflow may become.
