Nationwide Service

Sign Permitting & Engineering Services

Headquartered in Charleston. Serving in every state across America.

Before your sign goes up, get the approvals lined up. Your sign represents your business. Its location, dimensions, construction, lighting, and installation also need to meet the requirements of the community where it will operate. SOC helps you navigate the process—from the initial site review and permit drawings to engineering coordination, municipal review, and installation.

A South Carolina Business with Nationwide Reach

SOC holds a South Carolina Specialty Trades License and is registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State. Headquartered in Charleston, we coordinate signage projects across all 50 states. Permit applications and installation work are handled according to the requirements of the project's jurisdiction, using appropriately licensed professionals where required. Required engineering documents are prepared and sealed by a professional engineer licensed in the state where the project is located.

The Process

How the Sign Permitting Process Works

We offer sign permitting coordination across municipalities throughout America, along with nationwide installation services through our network of veteran contractors and qualified local partners. Whether you need one storefront sign or coordinated approvals for multiple locations, we help turn the requirements into an organized project plan.

Timeline

How Long Does Sign Permitting Take?

There is no single nationwide approval timeline. The schedule depends on the municipality, sign type, completeness of the application, engineering requirements, review workload, and any board meeting dates.

A project requiring routine staff review can follow a different schedule from one requiring engineering, historic district review, or a variance. Board submission deadlines may occur well before the meeting itself. Missing a deadline or receiving a request for revisions can move the project to a later review cycle.

We establish a project-specific schedule after identifying the approval path. Treat the following as separate milestones:

01Information collection and site review
02Drawings and any required engineering
03Owner, landlord, or design-board approval
04Municipal submission and review
05Revisions and permit issuance
06Fabrication, delivery, and installation
07Required inspections and closeout

Tell us your opening date early. We can plan around that goal, but government review and approval dates are controlled by the reviewing authorities. Expedited review, where available, may carry additional fees and does not guarantee approval.

Scope & Costs

What Costs Are Separate from the $650 Service Fee?

Your project may involve municipal application and permit charges, engineering, on-site surveys, drawing preparation, electrical permits, board fees, specialist reports, or other required services. Fabrication and installation are also separate unless included in your proposal.

The $650 fee is SOC's permitting service charge. It is not the government's permit price and does not include the engineering stamp service. We identify the scope and known additional costs in the proposal; newly identified requirements are communicated as the project develops.
